The digital world is constantly evolving. With the introduction of new technology, companies are able to streamline, speed up, and optimise their service offering. However, while a decent portion of digital technology is automated, there are still plenty of digital technology apps and tools that need to be utilised by individuals who are specifically skilled in their workings.
There is no escaping the fact that a new digital world will require new digital skills – and it is never too early to start preparing for this.
What you can do
With the unemployment rate continuing to skyrocket, and with the economic consequences of COVID-19 taking centre stage, it is important for the youth in South Africa to take matters into their own hands.
Now is the time to do all that you can to pick up the important skills relating to technology as a whole, and digital technology specifically. If you can’t afford to take online courses, seek out a mentor who will be willing to teach you for free, or in exchange for you teaching them a skill that only the youth of today tend to possess. Most importantly, make a conscious effort to never stop learning.
The quiet time spent throughout the lockdown and periods of social distancing provides the perfect opportunity to start exploring the possibility of learning a new skill, many of them available for free during these uncertain times. Watch YouTube videos on the topic, scope out free demos or courses, speak to experts in the field. Make it happen.
