Young entrepreneurs with great ideas will often feel an overwhelming desire to be successful. However, this desire and drive is often overshadowed by a fear of failure. In fact, this fear can be so pronounced that it completely takes over the entrepreneur’s focus, effectively derailing their best efforts to push forward to the top. The lesson? If you want to be successful, you need to stop dwelling on the possibility of failing.
Here are a couple of tips to help you to stop sabotaging your success.
Replace thoughts of failure with thoughts of success
You know how you constantly visualise the various scenarios that feature you failing to reach your goals? Turn this around by constantly visualising what your triumph will look like instead. There are many experts out there who strongly believe that visualisation can result in positive (or negative) manifestations. This is because it:
- Sparks your creative subconscious;
- Programs your brain to recognise the various resources and action that you’ll need to take in order to turn goals and desires into reality;
- Optimises your sense of motivation to make things happen;
- Activates the law of attraction – in other words, visualisation will encourage the right people and the right tools to come into your life at the right time.
Don’t think about failure as an ‘end’
Even if you do fail despite your best efforts to escape your fear of it, that doesn’t mean that it’s the end of your journey. On the contrary, sometimes failure brings with it lessons and the knowledge necessary to obtain success on your second, third, or sixtieth try. Use failure as a means of learning and growing as an individual. At the very least, it will build resilience, which is a key character trait of every successful entrepreneur out there.
