Time speaks. Youth Month (June) shows us that. We see this with the students who refused to let it be business as usual. In 1976, they took a stand for good, even if it cost them their lives. Looking back, what will be said of you? Will you be remembered for speaking up against injustice or be listed as one of the perpetrators who made your environment toxic?
Only you can decide
Perhaps you have passed your grade, matriculated and/or graduated. Will you leave a mark by mentoring others, encouraging your old school to make better students and do your bit to support entrepreneur societies?
You can donate your time, financial support and share such articles with the hope that they continue to inspire others. No matter how big or small, you can make a difference to those coming behind you and even those older than you.
Life beyond social media
Unfortunately, many are just caught up in trying to get one more “like” on social media and scanning through newsfeeds. The lure to be cool in the digital space consumes our time, even to the disadvantage of the real world. Instead of spending hours checking out social media and thinking of cool posts, why not think about the living you could tangibly influence if you set your mind to it.
Forever starts today
“One day” is the excuse many use to accept mediocrity. Rather than starting to craft an imagined future, it is set out to another day. Forget this mystical “someday” when you will do this and that. Let that day, be today.
Stop waiting for a magical day when things will transform into an ideal situation. Perhaps no one is coming to save you and you need to decide right now that you are the hero that you are so desperately awaiting.
There are many ways you can make a difference. Even with this Teen Entrepreneur movement, you can join in by becoming an intern, community leader, champion teacher/principal, investor or a parent supporter.
There are many ways to get involved. The need is there. Few dare to step up and answer the call. What will the future say about you?
