Many people will think you are crazy for wanting to start your own business while still young. “You are still young”, “It’s not easy”, “You could fail”, “why don’t you wait until you are older”, are some of the statements that you will hear from time to time.

It is true that it will not be an easy decision for you to make, but if you feel ready, go for it! Why wait?

So, here are the reasons why you should start now:

  1. You can afford to take the risk.

If you are still young, there are chances that you do not have any responsibilities or anybody to take care of except yourself. That means that no matter what happens to you, you have just yourself to worry about. You will not inconvenience anyone.

  1. There is no age restriction to business success.

When it comes to being successful, age is just a number. Mark Zuckerberg – the founder of Facebook, is proof of that. He founded Facebook (which was called FaceMash back then) in 2003 when he was only 19 years old. Now he is the youngest billionaire in the world at the age of 31 years old. The advantage of starting a business while still young is that you have enough time for trial and error. You are not under pressure to make your business work.

  1. You can recover quickly if you fail.

Since you are still young, there is a bigger chance that you may not have invested a lot of time or money in your business. So if it fails, it will be easier for you to learn from the experience, pick up the broken pieces and move on.

  1. You still have the much needed drive.

Starting a business is easy; building it into a successful enterprise is the hard part. It requires a lot of enthusiasm and drive. There are times when the business will demand a whole lot, or all of your time. These are times when you may be so busy that you hardly sleep for some days. These are days when you may not have enough money, so you are forced to do a lot of things by yourself. Your drive will be all you have to keep you going on such days.

  1. Getting a job will be much easier if you decide to switch than if you are older.

Everybody must not be an entrepreneur. If you try your hands on starting a business and you find out that you are not cut out for entrepreneurship, then you should return to the labour market. It will be a lot easier for you to get another job if you are still below 30.
