As you read this, you may have an awesome business idea in your head (write it down before you forget) or you may be on your way to making your business dream come true. Maybe you’d love to be making it as a teen entrepreneur but just need some info – like how to start?

Here are some tips to get your business off to a start early in 2016.

Dream, plan and start doing

Business ideas – you probably have loads of them in your head right now. And guess what? So does every entrepreneur. Having a dream is awesome – and you can’t get started without one – but how do you turn that dream into reality?

That’s where planning comes in.

You should be able to answer 4 questions about your business idea. Here goes:

  1. What does my business sell?
  2. Who would buy it?
  3. How would I make and sell it?
  4. How much will it cost?

If you can answer those questions, you’re 50% there. Now here’s the tricky part…

Making it happen

Once you know what you’re selling, all you have to do is sell it – right? Well, yeah – but wait, it doesn’t exist yet! So the first step is making it – whether its a product, an app, or a service.

Here’s the plan: make the first one, remember how much it cost you to make, try to sell it at a price that makes a profit, and see if anyone buys it.

Get a mentor

Let’s be real here – starting a business is tough. If you need help, reach out to business people in your family or even a friend’s mom or dad – you’ll be surprised how stoked they are to get involved.

Their experience and honesty will keep you on the straight and narrow, and before you know it you may just end 2016 as a fully-loaded teen success story.
