In sandy desert parched places like Dubai – a city-state in the United Arab Emirates – people don’t depend on rain to fall from the sky before progressing with that which they aspire to do. Rather, they assemble their collective resources and expertise to grow abundant crops, even in spite of the rain, or the lack thereof.
As South Africans we live in a global village and can learn from our international counterparts who have adapted their ways of doing everyday activities to incorporate best practices, the latest technologies and increase productivity many times over. Likewise, gone are the days of not starting a business due to lack of funds or taking forever to raise capital for a sustainable business start-up.
Mobilising radical change
These days, corporate bodies and entrepreneurs are rising to the occasion and approaching organisations such as Teen Entrepreneur to enquire how they can get involved in supporting aspiring learner entrepreneurs with funding, coaching and skills transferal. They realise the importance of raising talented youth, who will one day take on the baton and steer society forward in a progressive direction.
The need for you to encourage your school to get involved and/or establish societies at your school cannot be over emphasised, if you don’t want to miss out on such once in a lifetime opportunities. In the corporate world, there is strength in communal efforts that combine to light a big fire that will usher in radical entrepreneurial change for young people.
Don’t wait for tomorrow
Unlike in high school, where deadlines are often extended and the pace can be moderated to incorporate all; the corporate world rewards the swift. There is no certainty that someone else won’t grab the prize while you sit and wait to make your dreams a reality. Be proactive now. The future you could thank you for this decision now.
