When no one dares to believe in your start-up business idea and it seems like even legislation has conspired against you… Do you have the staying power to press on even after being written out? Teen entrepreneurs who make it big are the ones who manage to harness some sort of dynamite energy within them.

There seems to be a certain resolve that exists within entrepreneurs, they may get knocked down, but this just seems to deepen their determination to go back to the drawing board, sharpen their plans, strategise some more and go out to try again.

Will you

[really] cross the oceans?

Since time untold, people have adopted tag frames of “going to the moon and back” or “crossing the ocean” for what they really want. One person who took these words literally was teen entrepreneur Harry Johnson.

After not being allowed to register a company in Australia at the age of 17, he left the country of his birth to pursue his start-up dream in San Francisco (US). It is also worth noting that the minimum age to register a company is 18 in South Africa and only 16 in the UK.

Harry is now 18 and the founder of a location-tracking app called Wombat, which uses advanced technology to minimise battery usage. Speaking to “The Sydney Morning Herald,” he said, “I tried to look for a co-founder [18 years or over] but the ones I wanted, I couldn’t get and the ones who I could get I didn’t really want.”

Pick your conclusion

When faced with challenges and obstacles standing between you and your teen entrepreneurial dream; do you buckle in and quit? Or do you rise to the occasion and say come what may – I cannot and will not be stopped. I know, like I know that there’s something of value in my dream and I am determined to do all I can to protect this seed.

Many stop and give up.

Many strike and complain, but the great re-member and figure a way out.
