4 Do’s and don’ts to fight unemployment

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to realise that unemployment is a problem in South Africa. You see the protests on TV and hear about it all the time in the speeches of leaders canvassing for votes. A quick drive in certain neighbourhoods portrays it; there are unemployed youth loitering all hours of the day.

History teaches us that solutions can arise from the youth. You don’t have to submit to the status quo or be a victim of your circumstances. There is a way out if you dare to defy the odds.

We’ve said it before and we will say it again: The world is willing to pay for solutions and so are our partners who unfailingly support our endeavours to cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit in the youth of South Africa! Here’s what you can do to eradicate unemployment for the old and young in SA.

Do

  • Think like a #TeenBoss
  • Find a niche and fill it
  • Venture into the scarce skills sectors
  • Dream bigger

Don’t

  • Give up
  • Stop dreaming
  • Waste time
  • Stop trying and applying yourself

As an aspiring teen entrepreneur, your mindset must move beyond thinking that you can’t change things as unemployment has always been a problem.

You should rather think about how you can solve the problem.

It is within your means. You can help to turn things around for your family, community and yet unborn generations.

What do you need to do today to make that first step tomorrow?
