ABOUT US

Vision

The SA Teen Entrepreneur Foundation is a registered NPO Trust (click here to download our Registration Certificate). The vision of the Foundation is to cultivate and promote an entrepreneurial spirit amongst high school learners across South Africa through interactive seminars, workshops, conferences, and exhibitions. We target primarily high schools, but also interact with universities, churches, and youth centres to promote entrepreneurship and enterprise development amongst our youth.

Business Model

The SA Teen Entrepreneur Foundation has streamlined its value proposition to seven key elements:

Workshops:
Business idea generation workshops which are promoted under the banner, ‘Awaken the Giant in YOU’ (Read more…)

The Teen Entrepreneur Fund has created a breakfast networking series called “Awaken the Giant in YOU”. The primary target audience for these networking opportunities is the parents of high school learners who are keen to encourage their kids to embrace a culture of entrepreneurship. These sessions are also aimed at community leaders, teachers, business owners, NPOs working with young people, as well as public sector institutions and agencies charged with youth development- and related programs.

The purpose of these breakfast sessions is to:

  • Make information available about the SA Teen Entrepreneur Programme and promote membership
  • Share information about entrepreneurship and enterprise development with high school learners to encourage them to start their own businesses as a career path
  • Get familiar with legislation which governs enterprise development, and to understand what Government is doing to promote entrepreneurship, particularly amongst the youth
  • Inspire the youth by creating a platform for them to engage with entrepreneurs who have broken ground and are operating successful and sustainable businesses
  • Link up with parents, teachers, and other influencers in order for them to continually encourage the youth around entrepreneurship

Mentorships

The success of most businesses can be attributed to encouragement from colleagues, peers, and mentors; we recognise the important role that mentorships play and have therefore established a partnership with the Vuka Mentorship Programme.

This partnership will see us linking our up-and-coming young entrepreneurs with mentors who are running well established and sustainable businesses, and who can share valuable insights in terms of the management of their businesses.

Membership:
The SA Teen Entrepreneur Foundation has a three tier membership programme, namely

BECOME A TEEN ENTREPRENEUR

Young learners/teenagers/the youth is at the heart of everything we do.

Our core objective is to develop the youth to be able to establish and run their own successful businesses as a career path. We develop one-on-one relationships with those learners who are part of the programme, and we are privileged to be able to share in their growth. The vast majority of them have improved self-confidence, and they have hope for the future. They are keen to create values which they can be proud of. We learn as much from them as they can learn from us!

We aim to instil the following values in those young people who are keen to develop their entrepreneurial skills and thinking:

  • Become my own boss and be a forward-thinking leader in South Africa.
  • Realise my own ideas and innovations in order to make a meaningful impact on our to the economy.
  • Create jobs through my business and create wealth for others.
  • Build and develop a set of values which will guide my business; they will be values of which everyone who interacts with my business can be proud.
  • Massively increase self-confidence and give hope to others
